yesterday my lovely neighbor knocked my door and brought these redcurrants (ribes rubrum) to me. the lady said it was quite rare, even the supermarkets don’t sell it. when she found some in her backyard (it grows on bushes), she picked them straightaway and gave it too me. as she knew that i will go back home to indonesia by next year, she was afraid that i won’t have a chance to taste those fruits. how sweet!
the striking color was tempted me at first, how beautiful..
they are a bit sour, it was just like you eat tomatoes in small version. people usually make them into pies, but we’re asian don’t do pie. the redcurrants also perfect to serve with honey, yoghurt, or just as garnish for your (oat) porridge.
